The Battery Conservancy Honors a True New Yorker, John Demsey of Estée Lauder
A New Yorker, John Demsey of Estée Lauder being honored at the Battery.
On Tuesday night at dusk, the perfect garden party, designed by Jo Malone London, took place under a massive clear tent at the southernmost tip of Manhattan. All of New York’s high socials were in attendance to honor John Demsey, executive group president of Estée Lauder, for his partnership and his 15-year commitment to conserving the Battery. Under a balmy night, Leonard Lauder, who was in attendance with his wife, Judy, to present the recognition to Demsey, framed it best. “This is the city that welcomed my ancestors, a city that helped to build Estée Lauder company and with John’s creative vision for 30 years, we’re a company where we now house 45,000 employees. The city is the melting pot, which is made of us the New Yorkers, so let’s celebrate to that!” Herewith, some New Yorkers who gathered for a night to remember what the Battery and the city are all about.
