Josh Rosebrook Is Giving Us a Boost in Natural Skin Care

Keeping it real to his purest and cleanest form, Rosebrook launches a new boost concentrate.

It’s been five years since Josh Rosebrook and I first met, to discuss his humble beginnings as a hairstylist at the age of 10. Yes, that’s right, he was only 10 years old when he created a one-chair salon in his parent’s basement, in Portland. Fast-forward to his 20s, when he landed in Los Angeles to continue his hairstyling journey, gaining clients such as  Olivia Wilde, Mila Kunis, and Ellen DeGeneres. But something funny happened along the way—his clients started to notice his incredible and glowing skin. And it’s still glowing, by the way! Rosebrook had been formulating skin-care concoctions in his kitchen. It would be correct to call him a skin-care enthusiast who believes in natural ingredients sans harsh chemicals. Five years later, his skin-care line has expanded to 20 SKUs, and his redesigned, nontoxic hair-care line is scheduled to be unveiled in January. But before that, a 100-percent-natural, sustainably made, biodegradable hairbrush and comb launch on Black Friday, November 23.

In the meantime, my current obsession is his Hydration Boost Concentrate. Formulated to work in tandem with the Hydrating Accelerator (a best-seller in his line) and made with botanical hyaluronic acid, this combination is a real winner! Rosebrook explains: “Hydrating and moisturizing are two distinctly different phases of skin care. The two steps are married and will not function optimally without the other, since hydration is only retained in the skin by proper moisturizing. Because water and oil are very different chemically and react to the skin uniquely, hydrating and moisturizing phases must be applied autonomously.” When the two are layered, the levels of hydration and moisture are optimal. But all of the natural and highly active ingredients are worth bragging about, including herbal-vitamin-infused aloe vera juice, coconut water, and polyphenol antioxidants via house-made extracts of green tea, chamomile, comfrey, and cacao—all proven to slow aging in the skin and available this fall.

Then, to take it up a notch, there’s the Vital Balm Cream, which seals and protects, helping to penetrate and retain all of your skin’s goodness. I tried this three-step layering system for two weeks, and I must admit, my complexion was just as glowing as Rosebrook’s! And something else to look forward to, coming in December: the Polyphenol C Brightening Mask, with polyphenol-rich, multi-form vitamin C that brightens when activated with the Hydrating Accelerator, naturally.
