The founder of Moon Juice, Amanda Chantal Bacon, has been called the "Good Witch" thanks to her famed elixirs and potions such as Moon Dust to Brain Dust to Sex Dust and more, and she is precisely that. Bacon feels almost supernatural with her piercing blue eyes, not to mention her radiant, glowing skin (even in the dark she glows, I bet!). And there's that magical smile too, which accentuates her signature fetching dimples. Then, there's the hair. Her long bohemian mane flows freely and effortlessly behind her. She is a naturalist, a wildflower child of the 21st Century who now embodies the energy of Magna Mater. If you ever get to meet her, you'll know what I mean.
Nine years ago, this native New Yorker transplanted herself to Venice Beach, California, to open up her first certified organic juice and nut milk bar (now, it's so much more) called Moon Juice. And all of the juice-mad Angelenos flocked to it like bees to honey. It didn't take long for the locals, bold-face-named celebrities, and the hipsters to discover the magic of her concoctions that felt earthly good. Two more juice shops followed, one in Silver Lake and the other in Melrose Place, and the rest is history.
We spoke right at the beginning of COVID-19 shut down as she was launching her latest fortifying enricher, SuperBeauty. "I decided to call it SuperBeauty because it's that super to maintain one's cellular health," said Bacon. She is not a scientist by trade, but she researches and studies everything natural before formulating anything. Known for using 100% traceable and pure unadulterated, and ethically sourced ingredients, she tested out SuperBeauty on herself before putting it out on the market. Being the earth lover that she is, Bacon has a very healthy attitude towards aging, but why not slow it down? The trigger for creating this product was some changes she started to notice on herself. "My gray hair was coming a bit faster and a bit more furiously, and then the sunspots came. And I started to notice some breakdown of elasticity on my thighs, especially right above my knees," explained Bacon. My reply? "OMG, I can relate!"
By looking at the cellular structure in its landscape, Bacon decided to dive deep into Glutathione's benefits. Her finds were enlightening. The study has shown that Glutathione has multiple payoffs. Glutathione not only assists in inhibiting the enzyme that produces melanin formation in your skin, but it also has skin brightening elements. Plus, it is known to decrease wrinkles and increase skin elasticity. Furthermore, Glutathione is known to decrease psoriasis and even aids in fighting chronic inflammation by reducing oxidative stress (i.e., the advance of melasma, gray hair, and accelerated aging in the skin and even brain health).
These findings lead to the creation of SuperBeauty. If you go to moonjuice.com, all of her product details are transparent and super clear. Bacon worked hard with her trusted Japanese medicine doctor (SuperBeauty’s Glutathione is from Japan) to formulate this transporter of good health. "After four weeks of using this supplement, I noticed a difference with a stronger immune system," said Bacon. And I can wholeheartedly second that emotion. To test it out, I took the supplement for three months, and then I skipped a month to see if I saw a difference, then went back on it in the fifth month without Bacon's knowledge. I noticed a big difference. I felt better in general in those three months of taking SuperBeauty. My skin felt better, and it looked brighter overall, along with my melasma being a bit less apparent. And the gray hair? The month I skipped SuperBeauty, it came in faster I thought towards the end of the month. I am now swearing by this product because it performs. And knowing how clean this product is, from sourcing raw materials to manufacturing with zero toxins or fillers, I feel good about treating my body right and safely. I trust Amanda Chantal Bacon and all that she pours into creating all things magical for Moon Juice.
On top of that, I am also obsessed with her Collagen Protect. I only discovered it recently (I have no idea where I've been!), and I am now hooked, possibly for life. This supplement comes in the form of powder creamer, and I put it in my coffee every morning; I love it! I use a handheld milk frothier to mix it thoroughly. As the name suggests, this creamer was crafted to preserve one's collagen and hydrate the skin from inside out. Talk about skincare that you can drink, love that! I am over the moon to be on this healthy, anti-aging, super beauty journey from inside out.
