Aman’s New Destination: Skin Care
Many years in the making from concept to presentation, Aman’s very own skin-care collection has finally arrived.

What struck me the most about this skin-care variety is the thoughtfulness that went into creating such a comforting body-and-soul collection. But that is, of course, very much in keeping with Aman’s philosophy and execution. This carefully formulated range is housed under three pillars, each reflecting distinct pathways to wellness and providing a sensory-infused experience from head to toe: Grounding, Purifying, and Nourishing.

In the true spirit of Aman, many of the products are infused with naturally found and organically grown ingredients from their resort destinations around the world. For instance, the most exotic varieties of wild jasmine come from Tamil Nadu, India, where they are cultivated carefully, providing much-sought-after needs for the world of beauty. The particularly aromatic jasmine is often referred to as Queen of the Night, as it releases its alluring fragrance at night and the potency is legendary. Within Aman’s collection of ingredients, you can find pre-monsoon jasmine grandiflorum and post-monsoon jasmine sambac, along with rose, sandalwood, and moringa, all from India. There are two Aman resorts there, Aman-i-khás and Amanbagh, which exude natural, grand tranquility and escapism. Can you say “Om?”

Then there’s the cold-pressed organic argan oil, sourced in Morocco. This gift from nature is harvested from the high forests of the Atlas Mountains, where the topmost argan nuts grow. The trees are considered sacred by the Berber tribe, and are therefore picked only by women. In fact, Aman works with a cooperative of Berber women in order to keep its legend pure. Amanjena, in Marrakech, awaits there. Aman’s sea-buckthorn oil comes from Bhutan, where Amankora is located, and their vetiver comes from Bali, a mystical locale which also provides highly praised sandalwood. There are three Aman properties in Bali—Amankila, Amandari and Amanusa villas at Nusa Dua—and they are ready to provide you with the most luxurious and serene stays, as all of the Aman properties do. Then there are the geraniums from Greece! Ah, the lavish Amanzoe, with endless views of the Aegean Sea, is located in Porto Heli, which inspired the resort’s design with its Greek pavilions. And so on.
Aman Skincare is all natural, using the highest-grade ingredients obtained from sustainable sources. You won’t find any parabens, petrochemicals, sulfates, artificial fragrances, colors, silicones or PEGs in these naturally formulated products. And animal testing is forbidden in this sanctuary. According to Aman, they source organic ingredients wherever possible. However, since only ingredients grown from soil can be deemed organic, so water, salt, etc., cannot be classified as organic although they are natural.
And in keeping with Aman’s philosophy and aesthetic, the house tapped the renowned Japanese architect, academic and author, Kengo Kuma to design the packaging that feels organically grounding in the spirit of nature in figurative forms.
